Have not done the speaker connections but a friend of mine did, using
4 of the 8 Cat5 wires in parallel for each terminal. It works but I
wouldn't vouch for "hifi quality" of it, also, probably best not to
attempt to drive too much power through CAt5.

The phone I have done & it's 100% fine.
