RE: Clipsal C-Bus2

Hi Tim

With Clipsal C-bus:

240v loads (Lighting or 10amp switched loads) back to your node in a
star. It is worth noting that the standard c-bus din rail units are only
1amp per channel (8 way dimmer) or 2amp per channel (4 way dimmer) if
you need a higher amperage then you will need to install their
'professional' series dimmers which are stand alone (Much like the
Polaron ones I believe. This means in practical terms that you should
have only a load of 250w per amp. (say 4-5 halogens or 2-3 standard
fittings.)

The control circuit uses standard unshielded CAT5 (Clipsal do their own
PINK colour cable so you can distinguish between circuits easily but bog
standard cat5 is fine.) you can wire this in a 'star' or 'daisy chain'
or ANY combination of each on the network. The only thing you mustn't do
is a 'ring'.

You've probably got it covered but..... A 2amp 'round pin' socket
lighting circuit is also VERY useful in many rooms, gives you lots of
flexibility in terms of lamps etc.

Let me know if you need more help.

Many thanks

Tim

I'm nearing the start of a complete re-wire of my house, so was
wondering what wiring requirements the Polaron system has.

Does the 240v lighting main have to be configured as a star (same as if
I were to use LD10/11's)? Do I have to run Cat5 from each light switch
back to Node0?

Same question applies to C-Bus, as I can't seem to find any installation
schemantics.

Just want to make sure I wire adequately so I don't have to make the
X-10/C-Bus/Polaron choice just yet.

Cheers
Graham

If anyone cares, I'll have a working Polaron installation in 3-4 weeks
time...

Tim.
