I'm currently thinking of buying one for myself, and most likely it will
be
Vigor 2600 http://www.seg.co.uk/products/a_vigor2600.html.
I have alcatel's USB modem at the moment (frog), and I'm looking for
firewall, modem, router, solution.
This Vigor has more than I need and costs ?159 + VAT at SEG. It has a
modem
built in, so I don't need "frog" anymore. Maybe it can be found
cheaper
somewhere else, but ?187 inc VAT iz not too bad.
Cheers,
Nik

Subject: [ukha_d] Firewall/Router suggestions
Does anyone have any recommendations for a standalone
Firewall/Router ?
I was going to use an old PC running IPCop but the cost of buying a
USB
card
or an ADSL PCI modem and a few other bits means that I may as well
just
spend
a little extra and have a nice small solid state standalone
device.
Ideally I'd like it to work with my current ADSL connection but not
be
tied
to it.. i.e. be able to route/firewall from a RJ45 connection (Just
incase
adsl goes the way of ISDN).
I was looking at the Solwise 715 which seems reasonably priced and
gets a
good
review at adslguide.org.. doesn't fulfil my last point but then
again I've
not
found any that do yet.
