Without a doubt, if you've got the cash, buy Homevision. Although
Homeseer is a great piece of software, the CM12 is most definitely the weak
link. It's unreliable and low on features. It also depends on having a PC
running 24x7 - a combination that also tends towards the unreliable.
Homevision
is a dedicated hardware solution. It's completely reliable, doesn't require
a PC
(though you can have one connected for more functionality). The IR and I/O
capabilities are especially useful and it can be tucked away in the tiniest
of
spaces. And it doesn't make a noise.
I've
not touched my CM12 or Homeseer since buying
Homevision.

Hello,
I've been a member of this group for a week or
so, thus far I haven't seen an answer to my question which I'm sure must
have
been mentioned a hundred times.
I'm just starting out with HA, I'm a computer
programmer/architect and have lots of ideas that I want to mess around
with.
The big question I have is, should I go for Homevision or something like a
CM12U with, for example, homeseer/bespoke software ?
Any advice appreciated or if anyone can point
me
to a URL where this has previously been discussed that would be
great.
