RE: (ukha_d) Re: Robomow

You don't run with a Robomow, unless you're competing in some sort of Iron = Man
competition! Its v v heavy.  That said, I wouldn't leave it unattended= on the
front lawn, if only 'cos the local kids (bless em) would take great amuseme= nt in
annoying my Robomow.

I got mine from Friendly Robotics (the Sales Director lived about 10 mins f= rom
me), but they've since franchised it out.  The docking mower referred = to below
was the Husqvarna (sp?) one, which IIRC was well over =A31k.

As other have said, the choice between pushing a mower around for an hr vs.=
sitting with a beer and watching it isn't a difficult one!  It's prett= y quiet
too, compared to a regular mower, plus it makes funny boing noises when it = bumps
into things - what more do you need?

The one I looked at had a little "home" a docking station that the perimeter wire was linked to. When the charge was almost
gone, it would follow the wire and re-dock. Once charged it would
start off again.

Also it had an alarm built in - to start it you entered a key code (if my memory is right). If you picked it up without turning it off it would
"scream"
and not work until you re-entered the code. And without the docking
station it was a bit useless.

I thought these bits were really cool - dunno about these other models
though.
