How difficult would it be to design a small
device
which utlised an 802.11 CF card together with some clever hardware and
software
for the purpose of distributing IR over 802.11 networks?
I know that for me the RF-IR device which works
with
the Pronto Pro, and Marantz remotes is OK, but I know that Mark McCall has
tried and given up with one. Yes it is possible to wire a house for IR, but
it
isn’t that easy to retro-fit, AND you have to point the remote at a
sensor. I’m really enjoying the “Crestron-like” freedom I
get

house when I want to change lighting scenes, sky channels
etc.
The idea of having a single device which can act
as an
IR remote, control every single individual light in the house, display
output

appeals to me, and the only thing that is missing at the moment is the IR
bit.
Now that is HA that I really would be happy to
implement, because:
It is wireless
It can be relatively easily
retro-fitted
It has a cool wow factor
A single device controls
EVERYTHING
