This is the idea of Palm Remote.  A network connected Palm for ha
control.  Current cost is under =A3100 per device. Also, i think, it should be easy enough to take the palm out of its case and make it into
a nice looking wall controller. It is however a wired device although it could work over irda over a short range.  And yes it will do xAP,DDE,U= DP
as control comes from a PC based app.
