Li is completely right - IEC is the "kettle lead" style, not the 2-pin.

The 3-pin you describe is, though, I think Compaq-proprietary.

The 2 pin cassette recorder types are normally called "IEC".

The 3 pin "work of the devil" versions are normally called "Compaq" :-)

I'm after the name of the mains plug that ships with some laptops.  You
normally get the powersupply and then a lead from the mains to the psu.
Most I've seen are Euro plugs (3 pin) or 2 pin cassette recorder type ones.

Couple of laptops I've got have got three pin plugs, a bit like the olympic
signal but with 3 circles instead of 5..  Just talking about the mains side
of this - not the low voltage side.

Anyone know of the name of these plugs (or better still a supplier?)  I cant
search for the plug while I dont know it.
