There is also the line that many top policemen follow that by making
drivers
slow down, regardless of the method is a good thing and hence the
semi-legal
status of speed camera detectors now as opposed to a few years ago when
they
were totally illegal in the UK. Many studies have been carried out on the
subject and most concur that speed cameras but, more importantly, speed
camera awareness actually does reduce accidents in dangerous areas simply
as
the driver is paying more attention to his/her surroundings.

There is also the line and, it so happens the one I follow, that cameras
are
placed to maximise revenue incomes and not make driving any safer, rarely
do
I see a camera anywhere near what could be remotely classified as a danger
area.

However I take your point.

Yes, this is not the forum for such a discussion, look up the Road Users
Forum (RUF) on Yahoo or the Association Of British Drivers (ABD).
