Seems OK to me. The actual calcs are very simple in the first place if you
know the values to put in the formula. You get these from the LED
datasheets
anyway.
(Vsupply - Vled (forward voltage)) / Current in amps

Its amazing what you can google these days...
In looking for a method to calculate what size resistor I need to do a
'power on' led for some 12 volt PC fans - I came accross this litt'l n.

Dunno if the results are accurate (maybe an electronics wizz can
verify?) - but It saves me on the maths anyways!
