RE: Pronto vs. PDA (Dell axim)

Shaf,

Thanks for your comments

I expect 6mths on I'll prolly be looking at PPC for use with Wifi for
control and NetRemote, but for now I think it's a Pronto to get rid of all
of those separate remotes.

A collegue has telewest and IIRC it uses an IrDA style remote, which is
prolly why the consumer IR learn mode of your shiny new 2210 can't learn
(Ironic since it has IrDA anyway)
You could get a RedEye to do the conversion for you, but I'm pretty sure
that PDAWin won't learn the codes either.

Dave

Its difficult to put the two in the same class....

The pronto is a crusty, ugly piece of kit but works great for it's
specified
task..(soz personal opinion dont flame me.)

The PPC ( I have the H2210
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=105739&asource=
) has an IR
consumer unit just for the hell of it... anyway it works great but it would
be a waste of a PPC to use it just for IR.

Also note that I just tried 'learning' my telewest remote on the PPC and it
failed obviously - might try a pronto emulator ;) Dunno if the pronto
handles those type of IR signals.

Go pronto if you want to be using this device heavily for IR.
Otherwise get into the 21st century and but a PPC.

Why do I get the feeling that you'll be buying both ;)

Shaf
