RE: [OT] Plamsa purchase - on the verge....



I'm sure you're right that they are pretty close BUT what he's told you
doesn't mean calibrated (it never ceases to amaze me how little these
guys know). It takes no more than five minutes with Video Essentials to
calibrate a plasma, and I can actually give you the settings which
certainly for the version 3 and 4 Panasonics will be very close in most
situations, I haven't tried it on the 5 series panels but according to
Panasonic UK they should be the same.

Under the "normal" setting

Contrast -6
Brightness 1
Colour 2
Tint 0
Sharpness -2

That is with an Arcam DV-88 player with the black level setting at 0 IRE (pass pluge on for calibration purposes).
