Not forgetting the ability to "import" your existing media as well...

Although the anti-copying schemes built in to MCE will stop you playing
anything that's recorded BY that machine anywhere else, AIUI, there's
nothing to stop you using it just as an interface to play media that has
been produced by other non MCE machines, so in theory all your existing
DiVx, MP3, WMA, etc. etc.. can be played through this nice interface...

Also, this is MS's first attempt at this, and despite some obvious
shortcomings, it's not a bad first go. Whether you like Microsoft or not,
there's no denying the fact that when they want something they will go at it
like a bull at a gate until they get it right, so I think it's fairly safe
to assume that there *will* be a version 2, there will be service packs to
address the aforementioned shortcomings, and so on.

TBH, I would consider the current version of MCE, just for the nice TV
interface alone, which is debatably the major problem with HTPC's at the
moment anyway.... (with a Sky+ downstairs, and a TiVo upstairs, I really
don't need another PVR anyway!)
