Reading through Chris Bond's original link indicates that MS aren't even going to sell MCE separately - at least not yet. You have to buy it preloaded on a new PC. Currently there's a small handful of suppliers making such PCs. The HP version retails for USD ~1600 and the P4 CPU is still marginal :-(

I'd guess you may be able to buy the IR stuff separately when you can buy MCE by itself.
