well - like all ideas the details have to be '"finalised" ;-)
control would just be a case of choosing which stream you wanted to view. a= s
you have a pc at each client, then it is just a case of a dedicated media viewing type app of which there are many on windows, linux, xbox etc.

again, some of the control aspects are simplified as you only need to IR control the client device, rather than having to have a full ir distributio= n
system back to node 0.

as far as electiricy costs are concerned - i never thought i would hear
those from this group!
i 'guessed' that this could be achived by using multiple capture cards in a=
single machine - again i know this aint cheap, but then if you look at how<= BR> much video matrix systems are then this would be much cheaper than that.

I have a couple of points to raise about this.  Firstly, how would
you control these boxes?  A simple UI is key to a good system.
Secondly, you'll need a pretty hot machine for each source to encode
on the fly.  Not only will this cost a few quid, but it'll eat
electricity.  You will have 250w used by each encoder, plus at least 100w for each display device.  For 5 TVs and 4 inputs, that's 1.5kW constantly in use.  Off peak for me is about 4p/kwh, so that's
6p/hour all the time, or about =A3525 a year.  Bear in mind that's at<= BR> an off-peak rate...
