Whilst researching HA in the early days on US sites (before there were any UK ones), they all referred to "Node Zero".  I got it from them :)

  He started using it back in about 1997 on the list, and his old "My
  Selfbuild diary", and the rest of us followed.

  As the list got bigger, new members just sort of picked up on it.

  I _think_ it's a reference to something like the old version of CeBus,
  but could be wrong on this...
