Well, most of that is true already, I've modded my xbox so that it:

>play games, from harddrive, cd-r, dvd-r or original
>play dvd, regionfree and stuff
>play at least mp3, haven't tried any other formats from harddrive
or
network
>play video, mpeg, divx etc. from harddrive or network
>seem to be reliable
>offers pvr functions, kinda (computer records but x-box plays)

and I'm sure more things to come...
