I personally think you would be better with a decent 15" with a
lower
refresh time than a budget 17", so something like the AOC is great
for
desktop apps, but there is very noticeable blurring when playing
something like GTA3 or Jedi Knight (although the lightsaber looks
superb
in 3rd person) so you may be better with the sheer grunt of a good
19"
CRT or a higher quality 15" TFT for the money, but the best thing
for
you to do would be to find someone has the TFT and would let you give a
couple of games a run on it, to see if you really can handle the
blurring
