[OT] Website styling

As with many others I am currently in the process of moving my site
Gadgetshed.co.uk to a different hosting company.

While doing this I thought it an ideal time to review the layout and format
of the site and wanted to gauge opinion on style.  A lot of people use
Php-Nuke or a similar setup which works well for news type site like
Automated Home but personally I sometimes find it hard to find the content
I want on a reference material type site.

So the question is do people prefer the php news and topics style sites or
a more traditional pages, frames and side menus type site like say Ian
Bird's or Keith's. (Sorry guys just the first two I thought of)
