If you've got a Linux box or can build one, ZoneMinder works pretty well -
once you get the zones configured correctly, spurious results are
minimized. You do need to be careful with your detection areas with
whatever software you use - long tree shadows, drops of heavy rain
reflecting IR light (if you're using IR illuminated types), moving bushes
etc all need to be taken into account.

Using camsurveillance (http://www.camsurveillance.com)
with some cameras attached to my MV1000 & trying to sort out an area to
monitor for motion. Have tried lots of different areas to detect, different
shapes and % areas that have changed but getting lots of spurious
detections!
Has anyone got this to work or anyone know any other software that I should
try??
