xAP would make a fine job of (candidate for) this - you would send commands
to HomeSeer using a hs.exec schema with a command=whatever line and
HomeSeer could respond with a hs.event schema with status=whatever . The
udp
link is like a raw tunnel - what xAP does effectively is place a message
structure within the udp text that allows for intra device operability -and
it's all human readable.

Dave,

I am working on a new version where return values are sent back to the
client using UDP.

This means that all the commands coming from the client would have to be
written in the appropriate way e.g.

hs.execX10("A2","OFF") is ok
hs.execX10 "A2","OFF" will now cause an error in HS
Commander even though it
is a valid HS command

This applies whether you want a return value or not!

I'll upload the new version to my site in the next day or so.
