Your most likely candidate it the cable or your LNB.  Check the connection
where it is going into the LNB and see if water might have been poured
through.  You don't actually need a sat-finder to find the best position
for
the dish, if you can see the sat-strength meter of the digi-box itself from
the position of the dish... but if you can't, make sure it is for a digital
satellite, rather than analogue.
