iD Biscuits are devices which sit on a pair of cables and allow an alarm
control panel to identify when one activates, they are not normally used as
hall effect devices but wired into a normal door contact or detector, you
can have up to 30 on each run the idea being that you don't need to bring
30
cables back to the panel, wiring can be in radial, star or spur
arrangements. The Biscuits look like a transistor and are housed in a small
plastic cover with three legs sticking out. Several manufacturers have
adopted the principle for their panels, we have fitted hundreds of these
and
so long as you are careful with the wiring they are very reliable. I don't
know if ADE have a site but I think they are owned by MK so you may find a
link from there.

Not a lot of people know this (adopting a well known phrase of
saying) but the iD buscuits used by many alarm systems (specifically
ADE) are also hall effect sensors, and come in packs of ten for less
than twenty quid...
