I have just been to the Post Orrifice to purchase some of the boxes I use
for shipping KAT5 orders.
I am sure a great many of you will have seen or used these boxes. Made from
flatpacked white cardboard which after a quick bit of origami is
transformed
into a sturdy box suitable for shipping stuff safely through the mail.
These
boxes carry the logo "Post Pak" and the wording...
"Post Office PostPak is a registered trademark of the Post
Office"
and...
"This box is constructedfor use in Royal Mail Parcels Service upto
recommended weight 5kg."
I spent 20 minutes queueing up behind what seemed like half the population
of the town. I didnt notice one person actually performing a transaction
related to "POST".
They were either....
Drawing money out (eg benefits) - a banking function
Paying money in (eg bills) - a banking function
Getting a Tax Disk - government taxation.
Eventually I made it to the counter and asked for the boxes to be told they
had stopped selling them again :-(
They stopped selling them once before and I tried to order them direct from
Royal Mail. You can buy boxes of envelopes by mail order but they dont sell
the boxes...presumably because they cant buy a box to put them in!
I asked how I was meant to actually send parcels if I couldnt wrap them
according to their own guidelines that suggest using the boxes available
>from
boxes. This I already knew. The boxes are inferior quality, shrink wrapped
in plastic and cost three times as much. I pointed this out and he then
informed me that a customer had told him a local sub post office sold them.
I then walked halfway across town to the other post office and as I walked
in I saw the holy grail... BOXES... right next to the counter. I walked to
the counter and the assistant behind the counter asked if she could help. I
was about to ask for the boxes when I saw the notice..... "PLEASE BUY
THE
BOXES FROM THE SWEET COUNTER"
No wonder my poor brain is getting scrambled.
I now have to buy my Postal Packaging from a sweet shop.
you can get gas from the electricity company and you can get electricity
>from
you can get credit cards and banking from the supermarket but you cant get
food from the bank.
I wonder how far we are away from the situation depicted in many DIY comedy
sketches where you try to flush the toilet and the light comes on and you
have to pull the lightswitch to actually flush the toilet.
My brain hurts :-(
