So, solved the problem :-)
Essentially it was my fault because I was faking authentication. The
user name and password and my desktop was the same as that on the
server. This means Windows effectively thinks they are one in the same.
However there is also a time out on the initial authentication. Two
solutions ... increase the timeout or properly log onto the domain.
There ya go. Thanks for all your help guys.
