I was about to close the other thread and suggest that a new one was
started to talk about alternatives, but it seems I was beaten to it
on both counts :-)

I don't know if this helps at all, but I currently have a server co-
located with an ISP that I run a few client sites from. I would be
happy to give space on this server to fellow ukha'ers for free so
long as it was for hobby sites (anything remotely commercial would
not be possible).

The server is currently NT4 based with MS SQL server 7 on it, but in
the next few months it is likely to move to W2K (or 2003) server with
SQL 2K on it. Disk space of 500Mb per site would be fine but it only
has a 128K connection so I would want to prevent any major files
being hosted for downloads etc.

I can not provide e-mail or any other services other than pure web
hosting and would not be willing to support any other software that
is not already present (so no linux, php, mysql etc). I do not run
any HTTPS on the server either.

The server has been online 24 x 7 for 4 years except when reboots are
required for applying patches (I do this as soon as they are
available with very little warning as prevention is far better than
cure).
