Are you absolutely sure that this is real?
I can't imagine Belkin being stupid enough to put some sort of
"adware" in
their firmware update - sounds more like one of those urban myths to me...
...personally I've had no problems with my Belkin WiFi kit other than one
weekend it locked up a few times. I reflashed the firmware and it's behaved
itself impeccably ever since.
