You could consider a ProGear http://www.progear-repair.com/ it
doesn't real=
ly fit your 'wants' other than in price terms.=20
I've had one for over a year and have to say it gets picked up of the
charg=
ing cradle on a number of occasions in a week but only ever for doing
exact=
ly what you say, Browsing and email collection.

OK, it's a little clunky, runs an outdated OS (I believe some have updated
=
to Win2k and there is plenty on the forums about doing so.) gets a little
w=
arm, is a little heavy. But the touch screen is great (Way better than the
=
active one on my Compaq Tablet.) and for browsing and email, I like it.

Just my 2p worth. HTH.

Many thanks

Subject: [ukha_d] Webpads - Any ideas?

Morning.

Recently I've been considering getting some kind of webpad for use around
the house. I currently use a laptop over .11g, however it occurs to me
tha=
t
most of the time, I'm only using the laptop to either browse the web, or
pick up email.=20=20

I've considered a Tablet PC, but I really want something smaller, lighter,
cooler and quieter. I've also looked at Smart Devices (Viewsonic VT110
etc), but they seam to me to be hideously overpriced for something which
is=
,
especially, just a dump terminal.

Ideally, what I want is a iPAQ running CE and with a touch sensitive screen
between 10 and 15" running at either 800 by 600 or 1024 by 768.

I don't need it to synchronize with a PC, but it would need to have either
.11b or .11g (or, maybe a PCMCIA slot, but I'd rather wi-fi built-in).
Software-wise, it just needs a (preferably frames allowable) web browser,
and an email client (if it also had a usenet client that would be an added
bonus - an e-book reader of some kind would be good to).

*And* I don't want to spend more than say... =A3600-ish on it ;-)

Any recommendations/ideas?

TIA,
A.
