OT , help with Tivo

Hi,

sorry to be off topic guys, but can anyone tell me why I can't post a
message to the Tivo group ?
I'm sure I've posted before and I'm still receiving the digests.

When I send a message to the list I get the following email returned

OK , after having a Samsung 120gig drive sat on a shelf doing nothing for
the last 6 months I eventually got around to upgrading the Tivo this
weekend. All did NOT go according to plan :(

I've removed the hard disc but can not get a successful copy of the
original disc over to the new disc.

Using mfsTools (1.1)

1) First attempted on an Athlon1.4, issued command

"dd if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hdb bs=1024k"

every 20minutes I got a message on the screen from the TivoDisk saying
"--MARK--" the over a period of a couple of hours it kept
reporting seek errors, after 18 hours I gave up and rebooted.

2) Next moved all discs over to a 2.8 P4 machine, tried again

"dd if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hdb bs=1024k"
After 5 hours it hadn't finished so went to bed. In the morning it had
finished and there were no "--MARK--" messages, but a single line
saying it had errors, but the records in and out matched. When I put the
disc in the Tivo, it boots to the menu screen but there are no clouds just
a black screen with the menu items and the remote doesn't work.

After reading a few other guides I noticed some say,

"dd if=/dev/hdc of=/dev/hdb bs=32k"

so the PC is currently copying the disc again... hopefully it will have
finished when I get home from work..

If this doesn't work I suppose I'll try copying without preserving
recordings..

I've now been TiVoless for nearly 3 days! :(
