I posted about this package around 8 months ago (I am sure it is
somewhere in the UK HA archives)- I downloaded the old version trial
(not 2.0) about six months ago and played with it for while.
It has a different approach than HomeSeer (which is where my limited
knowledge of HA software comes from). It takes a logical device
versus a physical device. You have "define" the devices as
logical
first - giving them the appropriate qualities characteristics - you
then associate this logical layer of the device to an actual device -
you also have to the tell the system what means of communication
are to be used for the logical layer to communicate with the
physical device. I.e if you assign a logical device (say a light)
with a X10 module, you must tell the device to communicate with the
light via say a CM11a unit, etc. Then there are "scenes" to set
up
in conjuntion with the devices.
I looked at it since it also provided support for a number of HA
item which I have (slinke, Homevision, etc.). It also supports the
Lantronix (who are the owners of the software now) serial over LAN
devices.
I did not think it worth $995 asking price, but it had some clever
ways of managing media over the LAN and it may well be worth the
$199 price tag for the non-dealer version.
There are loads of "properties" to be defined and managed for
each
item. It has support for a vast number of HA and media devices. In
my opnion it is not for those looking for a quick & simple to set up
solution - but if you don't mind getting your head around the
concept, it's pretty good.
