Routers and hubs will all connect via an RJ45 plug, so you'll have to do
the physical install of the network card at some point and once that's
done it's just software configuration.

What type of net connection do you have - dial up, cable modem, dsl,
something weird and Australian... ? ;->

Depending on what you require etc, you can get an integrated router and
switch (which is better than a router + hub) which means you have less
things to plug in :)

Most routers are either configured via a web page or a windows
application and as long as you know your username, password and a couple
of other settings, it's generally pretty simple.
