How about giving each router a differnet IP address. The family then use
the
cable router as their gateway and you use the ADSL one as yours. All the
computers will be on the same LAN but just use different paths to the
internet.

Then if you have any problems with the ADSL link just change the gateway.
Saves have to keep unplugging routers etc.

This can even be done with a batch file. Which is what I do to change my
laptop when I visit various sites.
