TelCanto Beta Testing

We are about to release a new product and are looking for beta
testers. The product, named TelCanto, provides the ability to browse
and control the playing of digital music via a Pocket PC, and
consists of a Windows PC-based server and a Pocket PC client,
connected via wireless network. The following is a very brief
summary of the major features of the product:

- browse music collection on the Pocket PC by artist, album, genre or
composer.
- search music collection by artist, album, composer and track name.
- items selected for playing are added to a PlayQueue and retained in
their original form, rather than being expanded to a list of tracks.
Thus an album or playlist queued for playing is held in the queue as
a single entity, which can be subsequently moved within the queue or
deleted in a single operation. Items can be added either to the end
of the queue or after the currently playing item, or may be played
immediately.
- Shoutcast-compatible internet radio stations can be played.
- Pocket PC interface provides facilities to pause, start and stop
playing, skip to previous or next track or album/playlist, and
control the playback volume.
- Album cover art is displayed if available.
- Music can be played via Exstreamer (multiple units can be
synchronised), Winamp, Windows Media Player, or SlimServer. Support
for other hardware and software players will be added subject to user
demand.
- TelCanto can create its own database or use that from Windows Media
Player Library or iTunes Library. MP3, WMA and Ogg Vorbis formats
are supported.
- Playlists can be read from .M3U or .PLS files, from WMP Library or
iTunes Library.
- Multiple configurations can be set up and selected via server UI or
on Pocket PC client.
- WMA and Ogg Vorbis files can be played via Exstreamer using
transcoding.
- The product is built using Microsoft .NET.

We are looking for beta testers who are prepared to spend some time
putting the product through its paces, and providing constructive
feedback. In order to minimize duplication of effort we would prefer
a small number of testers, each of whom is able to exercise
particular areas of the product. If you are interested in becoming a
beta tester, please email beta@xxxxxxx and we will send you a
checklist to complete to indicate the areas of the product you are
able to test. Active participants in the beta programme will be
rewarded with a free product license.

Regards,
Malcolm Green
