Anyone know much about Z-Wave

In my garden, which is about 1/3 acre, I've installed a sarel enclosure in
each corner.

Each enclosure is fed by a 2.5mm2 Steel Wired Armoured (SWA) cable. The
longest run from the dist board to the enclosure is about 50 M.

Originally, I planned to install various X10 modules in the enclosures to
locally control lights, power and a couple of water features etc.

However, I see there is a new fangled kid on the block called Z-Wave!

The trouble is that there is precious little information available,
particularly WRT the type of modules that are or will be available. It
seems that at the moment, it's almost vapourware rather than a range of
products!

I know that it's RF rather than power line transmission and I've read the
marketing stuff that's on the Homeseer site and the ZenSys site but it
doesn't really tell you much about imminent releases of hardware.

So, does anyone have the inside track on what's happening with Z-Wave? Will
DIN modules (or similar physical packages) be available within the next few
months? Will Z-Wave ever make it big or is it destined to be yet another
hopeful but not quite getting there?

OTOH, should I just go with X10 and be done with it!!!?

Cheers

Neil
