I think this is the bit I didn't really understand, whether each client
controlled the central PC (the one with MC9) or whether each client just
streamed whatever you requested to that PC (if that makes sense). What I
want to achive is the streamed MP3's across my lan, which I guess MC9
and Musiclobby will not let me do?

Not sure what you mean "different machines to play different
music" ?
The music is played at the machine with MC9 installed
and "controlled" from different client pc's.
The multi-zone (multi-source) is done by multi sound cards / outputs
from the server PC. You can play different tracks from the same pc
on different outputs.
If you want the local pc to play music you will need to stream data
(mp3 or whatever) over your LAN.
