Hi matt_miles_uk
One other alternative and I know I'll get slated.... Run the lot over cat
5
+ patch panel but use conventional BT sockets where you want the
extensions.
This way you can keep you BT connectors on your phone/faxes and you don't
need rj45->bt converters. If you ever want to swap the use of the
socket (
ie to data ) simply swap it for a rj45 socket ( or whatever ) - doesn't
take
long. Doesn't exactly follow the flood wiring / patching ethos but it's
nice and neat.
Will you also be using ADSL in the future ?

This is where I was getting confused. I plan to make a patch lead
from the BT master socket in the house to the back of my phone patch
panel. This will be wired in parallel. so for my extensions if i
wanted to use a converter all I would need is a secondary one... so
whats the difference between using one of those and chopping the BT
plug off?
Cheers,
Matt

to BT converters that just plug in. I personally didn't like this
option as they're a little bulky if on show - and cost more than an
RJ46 plug! (only a few quid each I think???)
