That would be the problem then!

I use DVD Decrypter to make a perfect copy of the complete DVD in iso
format. This has all the menus and extras etc. The only way the XBOX can
view this is to mount it and share it fro ma PC and play the exposed .ifo
file.

I can play .img files OK

I've just tried a Nero .iso file and it played fine directly from the SMB
share!

I did have to include .iso in the Video extensions

You could but I'm sure that's the problem. I'll experiment more with the
Nero approach.
