Yes, but the AP looks like it has 192.68.16.1 as its default gateway, with
the subnet of 255.255.255.0 applied won't this become 0.0.0.1? instead of
0.0.16.1?, so will the AP not find the default gateway?  - maybe my grasp
of networking needs updating ?! :)

Not sure I'm with you there, All the adresses in use are within
192.168.16.0
so a 255.255.255.0 is entirely usable

Not sure if it makes much difference, but you need to widen the subnet to
resolve the addresses correctly - 255.255.255.0 will only "see"
the last
octet of the ip address, since you are using 192.168.x.y you should
probably
make your subnet 255.255.0.0 thus "seeing" the last two octets.

That might be causing some problems...?
