KVM Hacking
Hi all,
I've got a little problem with a KVM switch I have, in that it only
recognises a system as being connected if there is a keyboard output from a
PC into the KVM, in addition to video. I have a couple of systems that have
no keyboard, mouse or whatever but do have video, however the KVM won't
acknowledge that these systems exist and switch to them. I also have the
same problem with a secondary extended desktop screen which I sometimes
want
to use.
I'm not sure exactly what I'm after, but probably either some way of wiring
a male PS2 plug to fool the unit into thinking there is a computer at the
end of it or a PS2 splitter so one PC will drive two KVM outputs. I've
found
that PS2 splitter cables exist but these seems to be 1xMale -> 2xFemale
whereas I need 1xFemale -> 2xMale.
Any ideas or suggestions for fooling the KVM into playing ball would be
appreciated. The KVM in question is an eBuyer one (http://tinyurl.com/s8kz)
though it looks a bit different from the photo.
Cheers,
Phil,
