Hmmm, cool, Is there such a thing as a cable with s-video at one end and
a scart connector at the other?

Most modern sets have at least one SCART that supports S-Video.
A Sony TV we had at work supported the following
AV1
AV1 RGB
AV2
AV2S
AV3
AV3S
AV4
AV4S
AV 1-3 were SCART, AV4 was Phonos/Minidin
I have a 28" Mitsubishi circa 1993.
AV1, AV1 RGB, AV2, AV2S, AV3, AV3S.
AV 1 & 2 are via SCART
I also have a 25" JVC
AV1, AV1 RGB, AV1S, AV2, AV2S, AV3, AV3S AV 1& 2 are via SCART.
Check the manual or on screen menus.
Sony often cycle through the various input combinations on a single AV
button.
Hope that helps
Keith
