RE: Dect Phones

To get ADSL, I had to convert my ISDN line back to analogue (so now have a
surplus ISDN PBX). I needed to get replacement phones so that we could
still communicate around the house.

I chose the BT 5410 with 4 handsets... decided not to have the answer
machine version and to have Call Minder instead since it is robust and can
take a message while your phone line is in use.

Features:
a.. Caller display (and display number when call waiting active)
b.. Backlit display
c.. 'in use' appears on other handsets when one is in use (although wish
that it would show which handset is in use)
d.. Each handset has its own phone book, but you can transfer individual
or all numbers to the other handsets (200 name directory)
e.. Can attach an audio name to be spoken when there is a matching inbound
CLI
f.. Flashing red light to indicate missed call (but rather odd decision
here... only shows calls that released their CLI - so callers who withheld
their CLI and left a call minder message would not result in a flashing red
light)
g.. SMS messaging (the message function on the phone shows sms and missed
calls separately)
h.. Reasonable hands free on each handset (and easy toggling between hands
free / handset).
i.. Does 'room monitor' functions
j.. Option to 'silence' a ringing phone if you don't want to answer
k.. Room monitor... can make a call to another dect handset or to an
external PSTN number when the monitoring handset detects noise in the room
Generally happy with the handsets. Seem to have reasonable talk / standby
times. I also got a cordless DECT headset to use with the system (of
course
you can only answer calls with the headset, not make them).

Subject: [ukha_d] Dect Phones

The time has come to replace the Binatone dect phones which we have at
home. Can anyone recommend a good phone currently on market or about to hit
and/or places to purchase.

Anything but Binatone (once bitten)
Needs to have handsfree function (can't hold a phone for ,more than a few
minutes)
caller ID, memory etc.
hopefully able to operate Comfort
and preferrably single phonebook (but anything considerd)

I noticed BT has the Equinox 1200 twin set, but haven't heard anything
about them

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Campbell
