www.consume.net does this kind of thing, and I came across a bootable
CD the other day which basically makes any machine with 2 NICs a
gateway requiring authentication.

Basically how it works is, you configure the information for your
machine on a website - IP, your email address, other peoples
(registered) email addresses that can have set levels of access, (ie -
some can use irc - others couldnt), and then you boot the machine up -
enter your ID from the site.. and it downloads the configuation.

Then anyone trying to access the net through your box gets prompted
for their ID.. yadda.

Sort of how the bt openzones and similar work..

Except.. I cant remember its bloody name.. I'll have a search for it.. :(
