IIRC "interior" bathrooms (i.e. those without windows) with
forced
ventilation are required to have a 10mm gap between the bottom of the
door and the floor covering to allow air to enter, then be sucked out by
the fan. Perhaps you could be a bit cak-handed in trimming the door to
clear your carpet ? May be less unsightly than a ventilation grill ?
