I don't know how much you're expecting to pay, but you might consider the
Symfony WebPads - see www.symfony.co.uk
I've used the Symfony WebPad a few times and my customers were quite
impressed with them. Do bear in mind that these customers had only ever
used/seen PC's and laptops so were not aware of tablet PC's or smart
displays, so a certain amount of WOW was inevitable, but they are reliable
CE based touchscreen PC's with integrated wifi and fitted my requirements
very well. If you navigate into the shop you'll find links to the 8"
& 10"
WebPads. As usual, no affiliations just a satisfied customer.

Subject: [ukha_d] Webpads / Large screen PDAs
After using my old Point-510 for a while, I've decided that I want a
CE based "webpad", with a screen size of between 10 and 15".
I've looked at Windows Smart Displays (AKA Mira) in the past, however
it looks like these technology has been killed of by Microsoft, I'm
guessing that the price, being so near to Tablet PC's, killed them
off. I also don't really want something which can only be used via
RDC to a PC. Ideally, what I want is something exactly like my iPaq,
but with a bigger screen. I want a CE device rather than a Tablet PC
because of noise/heat/battery life.
I looked into this a few years ago, and found a few products which
fitted the bill, although they were slightly too expensive at the
time. However, I now can't find anything suitable! (I've obviously
tried Google, but don't really know what I'm looking for! - I even
tried "big PDA" :-). I've also lost the links I had to suppliers
of
large screen CE.net machines.
Does anyone have any recommendations for products which meet my "large
screen PDA" requirement? Ideally I'd like 1024x768, but 800x600 would
be okay if it was a smaller screen. I'd even be willing to look at
something with a screen going as small as 8" if the price was right!
As well as screen size, it must have wi-fi, and be capable of running
a RDC client.
Thanks,
A.
