That surprises me; Amazon are one of a few etailers that I'd not hesitate
to
recommend (Screwfix were another, until recently...).  I've placed 2 orders
so far in the past 2 weeks, both on the free delivery, and both arrive
within 2 days.  The 3rd order goes on tonight, hopefully it'll be ok.....

I've had good luck the last few months with Amazon, getting four out of
five book orders within the estimated time.  I was amazed this week -
placed an order for some DVDs through them at 9:30pm on Thursday Dec09,
selected "free 3-5 day shipping"  and they turned up on my
doorstep at
8:00am on Mon13.
