As a nice little side note to this I'm currently sitting at home with
limited electricity ... We had a leak last night and it has taken out some
of our electrics and I'm awaiting a sparky to check it all out.

At the moment the circuits that are out are:

Upstairs lights - 6A MCB
Downstairs lights - 6A MCB
Ring main - 32A MCB

The circuits that are still "live" are:

Cooker - 32A
Shower - 40A
Immersion Heater (crossed out with "Loft Sockets" hand written on
it) - 16A

That's what they are labelled as on the consumer unit anyway.

However, here's the scary bit:

1) The kitchen light still works.

2) The sockets in the loft are dead.

Now - I know the sockets in the loft aren't fed from the "Ring
Main" MCB as
I've found that out from experience but if they're now off that can only
mean one thing - they're fed from the lighting circuit.

Oh and of course there's number 3) ... Which is that although all the
servers are off in the "computer room" (smallest bedroom) -
they're plugged
into the house ring main - the wireless AP, router and cablemodem (which
are
plugged into the other side of the room and which I'm using from the lappy
to get onto the internet at the moment) are still on and working perfectly
... So where the f*ck are they fed from!

I hasten to add that all this wiring is as it was when we moved in - I've
not touched any of it!

Phil
