Phone not ringing (via cat5e and patch panel)

I am having trouble using my telephone over CAT5e cabling.

I've got a dual-ended lead with an RJ45 connecter one end and an RJ11
connecter on the other. This goes straight from the phone socket to a
wall outlet that's wired with CAT5e to my patch panel. This
dual-ended lead is 4 core.

>From the patch panel I patch it through to another wall outlet where I
have a micro converter from RJ45 to a normal BT style female socket,
in to which is placed my telephone. The patch lead isn't cross-over.
The RJ45 -> BT connector is also 4 core.

I can pickup the phone, I hear a dial tone and can make calls and all
is dandy from that side of things. However, the phone doesn't ring at
all. If the phone is actually ringing, although I can't hear it, and
I pick it up, I can commence a call as normal and replace the receiver
when finished and it terminates the call as normal.

I just don't get why it's not ringing. It's the only phone connected,
REN 1, and the cable runs are like 10m each, it's very close to the BT
wall outlet.

What've I done wrong (or haven't I done at all)? I was thinking my
pins aren't right or something. I have tried multiple wall outlets
and leads, converters but it's still not working :(

Please help :(
