Brian,
I too visited CAT and bought the wind generator in a brake drum book but
in my location I have a lot of trees which do not give it good air...
An 'alternative' is to buy electricity from a Green supplier who only
use renewable sources... Seems the way to go for me.

This is one of my old hobbies, I support "The Centre of alternative
Technology" based in Wales.
http://www.cat.org.uk/
They have allsorts of kit and I, like you, feel a bit guilty about
having machines running 24/7.
I bought one of their plans for making a wind generator, not massive
amps output but also not a silly price either.
It involves buying a scrap brake drum from a double wheeled Transit
Van.....looks interesting but god knows when I will get time to make
one, or two.....

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here had gone down the rout of solar
power/wind power, and was wondering how they found it. Firstly, did
they find it worked well with their automation set up (any probs
with X10), and did it allow them become in any way energy self
suffeceint.
Just enquiring, cos its something I'm considering and would love to
take the plunge.
Regards,
Eamon
