RE: Extending CAT5e shielded
I have used the CAT5 couplers from CPC (Which have krone style punch
downs.)
once punched I then have twisted the drain wire from each end together
through the centre.
A m8 of mine tested the runs with his 'black box tester thingy' and they
passed the shielded tests. I guess because the drain remains intact and
only
a 1.5inch section does not have the metal shroud.
HTH.

Cheers Gavin - i had looked at these, but was concerned that the
drain/shield would be broken.
Also i would have to fit plugs onto the sold cat5's.
I've decided to go for two sockets and a v.short patch lead in the ceiling
void.
Thanks
Dean.

Dean
We use the standard ethernet cable joiners at work occasionally with no
problems.
I have one in front of me if you want to try one out.

Anyone done this before ??
I've got to extend a bunch of CAT5e Shielded cables. Does anyone know of a
neat way of doing this, and one that keeps the CAT5e performance intact.
Thanks
Dean.
