Thanks for the info Dean - I'd missed the Axim on your website first time

my plans finalised and get started asap!!!

Neil

I bought an Axim X3i - best one vs price in my opinion.

I went from an old IPAQ to a Zaurus with CF WiFi to a Palm with inbuilt
WiFi
to a Dell Axim X5 with CF WiFi to a Zaurus with CF WiFi to a Axim X3i - and
will now be stopping here !!

WiFi range is very good, as is IR - i use PDAWin and Pronto CCF's for
control of CBus and Slimp etc. + Web control via WiFi of Slimp.

Definately good VFM

There an image of on with PDAWin running on it here http://www.samares.net

Subject: [ukha_d] Dell Axim X3 Wireless PDA

Having decided to jump into updating the "toys" after Xmas I'm
looking to
get one of the Dell Axims with integrated WiFi, mainly due to the good
price
and "consumer" IrDa which I assume will let me use it both as a
mobile
browser for controlling hvac & lights (and maybe even a Squeezebox if I
can
get that past SWMBO without too much pain) via a web server and as a
universal remote in the living room for the home cinema etc. May even try
SatNav (and I assume TomTom still rules here) if I take to the device!!

What I need to know is:
1) has anyone bought one of these models and can comment on how well
it fares compared to the more established PDA's?
2) can anyone point me to suitable software for the IR control or is
there already a suitable application Win Mobile 2003?

Thanks

Neil B.
